A little over a year ago, Lucas, a mutual friend from my boyfriend, helped me when my driver's side front tire decided to fly off in a spray of sparks while I was going uphill in the dark at 65 mph. In return, I promised to give him a woodburning. Cut to a year later (FAR too long to work on something like this) and I finally gave him and his wife a woodburning of one of their wedding photos.
This endeavor was insane. I've never attempted a woodburning like this before (aside from a friend's engagement picture, which was the base attempt for this one) and, despite my complaining, I'm quite proud of this piece. I still suck at shading, and this entire thing was an experiment. Especially figuring out how to shade and provide muted details under layers of that veil. After a while, I kept fixing little nitty-gritty details and I had to force myself to stop working on it. The end result was taken with a camera, so it's missing some details. I tried fixing it as best I could in Photoshop.
I made an agreement with another artist on this site. I don't know how to tag names in this box, but you know who you are. You colored your woodburning by the end of the year, and so I shaded mine... though, admittedly, I finished during the final hours. :/
